RSSmeme Widget Released Early

RSS Icon Even though I’ve just posted that I’d like to hear Benjamin Golub of RSSmeme’s response to ReadBurner’s return under new ownership, he went a step further and released a fantastic RSSmeme widget! I guess the news really is keeping him on his toes.

What Does It Do?

"The RSSmeme widget allows you to let your visitors know how many times a link share shared and allow them to share it directly from your site."

In addition,

This is new and experimental; which means it will change and evolve. Currently it will display nothing if that permalink has never been shared. In the next version of the widget I plan on allowing someone to share the link even if it has never been shared before.

The widget itself is not your typical sidebar widget. Instead, it sits wherever you’d like to place it, though I’d suggest following Benjamin’s example and place it in your posts to let viewers know how many times your story has been shared. I can’t wait to implement it here on SheGeeks!

You can see a live demo of the widget running in a post on Benjamin’s blog.

***UPDATE
The RSSmeme widget worked instantly! I’ve now got the widget neatly integrated next to my ‘Trackbacks’ at the top of every post!  Benjamin’s instructions were simple enough to get me on my way. Note that you’ll only see it if a post has been shared. After chatting with Benjamin about the widget he let me in on another neat feature for the RSSmeme widget: you can now use CSS on it to style it! I changed mine to red!

Have you integrated the RSSmeme widget? Post your link in the comments section to show it off!
