Google2Go for Windows Mobile Smartphones

Google2Go is the latest Windows Mobile application to hit the web. Though not affiliated with Google, Bryan Burkholder, developer of the Google2Go mobile application is making headlines, which are bound to grow with the Smartphone release of his previously touchscreen only application.

Features Include:

  • Google Web/Image Search
  • Google Local Search
  • Gmail
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Reader
  • Google Docs
  • Picasa
  • Google News
  • Google Notes

Other supported sites and services include Weather.com, Amazon, eBay, Wikipedia, and Dictionary.com. Sounds like a college student’s dream application right on her/his mobile phone!

Requirements:

  • Windows Mobile (Professional OR Standard) 5/6
  • Windows Mobile .Net framework 2.0 or greater
  • Data/Wifi connection
  • Screen Resolution of 320×240 or 240×240 (required)

Though Google’s services are already mobilized, you have to admit that Google2Go may be a good alternative to Google’s mobile services, but it has a long way to go to compete with Yahoo! Go with the interface it’s sporting (ugh!).

The application is still in beta so you are advised to use it at your own risk and with the latest version for the smartphone some services may not work! I’ll be sure to keep you posted on development updates.
