Well, I'm not at work :), so I'll comment. I wonder if there's a gender difference here? Would men tend to think of sex in a visual medium, and women in a textual medium?

Years ago when I was playing Yahoo Poker, one of the poker players would start posting erotica stories. And yes, the poker player was female.

Am I off base here, or is textual erotica more appealing to females?

There's probably two reasons for the omission:

(1) Decorum. While people will discuss their cats, their music tastes, or their taxicab drivers, there are very few of us that will share EVERYTHING about our lives. I haven't seen any “kissing the porcelain bowl” tweets yet.

(2) Respect for one's partner. Sex is normally considered to be an affair that is just shared by the participants. I don't invite my friends over to my house to watch me have sex, so why should I tweet about it?

Oh yay! I see this was posted some time ago, but we'm new to Twitter and just now searching for things like “twitter sex talk” (the Google search term that landed me here). Glad to see there's an actual hashtag set alrerady.

I note that one of the comments was “I don't invite people into my living room to watch me have sex …” Well, that's where we're a little different. We participate in the swing lifestyle, so we *do* invite people into our living rooms … and bedrooms … and … well … you get the idea. However, the entire world doesn't know this about us, because of the stigma attached, and we'd like to keep it that way.

So the fem half of us has created an alter-ego and the male half is creating one for the sole purpose of twexting! (I'm getting hot just thinking about it!)

Sharing on Twitter is a natural for us! We think it'll be fab, sexy fun. Whether you think swinging sounds delicious or like a plate full of brussel spouts, we know there's a little bit of voyeur in all of us, so perhaps some of you will create alter egos, too, and we can have one big Twitter orgy. ;) Try #tworgy!
