Limiting the number of followers is not the be all and end all solution. Perhaps Twitter should have had looked at other avenues.

Corvida - Noticed the hits coming from your related posts. I like your take. Not sure if crowdsourcing will ever go away but limiting users for this reason or because an app can't handle the volume isn't the answer. The web's getting bigger every day?!

I see the issue but I'm still wondering why it's such a big deal?! People are acting like it's the end of the world. There are other services out there very similar too & often better than Twitter, so why not just switch now?

I'm at 143, both for people I'm following and followers of me. It just happened to work out that way, though, since there's people who follow me that I don't follow and the other way around as well. But anyway, I'm more than a long ways off from following 2,000 but honestly, I have a hard time keeping up with the 143 people I do follow. In fact, I've considered doing a "following cut" on Twitter because of that. Now, I'm not saying that it can't be done, but frankly there's not much value in following 2,000 people.

-Adam

I'm a long way from 2,000 and will probably never get there, so it won't make me leave Twitter.

I've heard some say you can follow more than 2,000 is you have at least an equal amount of followers. Is this true?
