readburner_logo Last night, I was able to get a sneak peek of the ReadBurner mobile app! I was highly excited about this as I plan to be on the road and out of the house a lot this weekend. So this was a perfect way to keep up with the news, without having to sort through the hefty amount of feeds I happen to have, using Google Reader Mobile.

Efficient Design

The site design is pretty simple, which most mobile users will greatly appreciate. The only graphic on the homepage is the ReadBurner logo, so page loading times were a breeze! Once on the home page, you have 5 options to choose from and a corresponding keypad number:

  • Google Reader (4)
  • Contact Us (5)

Display Breakdown

There are 10 stories shown for each of the first three views and the ReadBurner Blog. Clicking on any of the items in these views will first take you to its ReadBurner page where you can see the author, source, and how many times the item was shared. ReadBurner provides a mobile friendly version of each item. Note that images may or may not be stripped from the content. At the very end of the page is a link to the full HTML version and comments section (if enabled). Unfortunately, there are no neat tricks for the Google Reader section. You’ll only be forwarded to the mobile version of Google Reader, which I find to be a convenient shortcut.

My New Mobile Homepage

winner_icon If you’re on the go a lot or in a rush while on the go, ReadBurner mobile should definitely be your mobile phone’s homepage. I’m glad keyboard shortcuts are incorporated as it can be a pain to have to scroll down on a mobile phone. Kudos to the ReadBurner team for this neat app. It’s officially my new homepage on my Motorola Q9m!
