[Winner Announced] Ethical Hacking: Beat Hackers At Their Own Game

ethical hacking course I remember the first time I saw the movie Hackers featuring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Lee Miller. There was just something so fascinating about being able to use lines of codes to get into a system or hack a payphone just by playing a specific sound. It was…cool, but it wasn’t ethical. After watching Hackers I entertained the thought of being a hacker for quite some time.

IZEA recently approached me about a Ethical Hacking course, which made me take a stroll down memory lane. One of SheGeeks’s readers has the chance to become a Certified Ethical Hacker. EC-Council is offering a full iClass package to you valued at $2,995! The package includes the books, lab manual, AND online class.

If you’re working in IT security, secure programming, or data recovery, this could be just what you were looking for! The courses teach and reinforce security fundamentals, ethical hacking, penetration testing, disaster recovery, and secure programming.

UPDATE: Congrats the winner of the Ethical Hacking course, Kaerast! For those that didn’t win, but participated in Ethical Hacker campaign 50% off coupon is available to partake in the Ethical Hacking course. 1. **** Not a contest entry ****

I took this course (not with Izea, but same course) a few years back and have the CEH cert. It was a superb course – really interesting if you're at all into security, and very helpful in my job as an IT consultant, where one of my general responsibilities is protecting client networks.

Good luck to all in the contest …

  2. I'm a good fit to become the next ethical hacker because I do a lot of work with small-scale non-profit organizations who simply don't have the money to pay an “expert” so it would be a great way of ensuring the little people are as secure as the big people. Once you've been working in IT for long enough you understand the basics of security but having it reinforced would be good, as would some certification to demonstrate my knowledge.

  3. I think I would be a good fit for the course. Ever since I was 16 (21 now), I got into computers and loved it. Since then, I rose very quickly through positions in the IT industry. At 16, I served at tech support for Charter ISP, went on to be an assistant admin at a school the next year, then went onto be an IT consultant for small-large businesses. Also, I earned four IT certifications in my last two years of high school (CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, Linux+)

Finally, I received an academic scholarship to the university I'm attending now and also received an internship working on the Network Secuirty team. I've been working here for three years now and I have thought about the CEH more than once. However; I'm a poor college student and the $3000 they're asking is way too much for a little guy like me.

I'm all about expanding my knowledge and working my way. I've been working hard, very hard, to get where I am right now. I'm confident that I could pass the CEH should I be given the opportunity, but the problem is, that opportunity has not presented itself (yet, I hope).

  4. I've always loved computer security from a young age, I recently was a Network Engineer and looked into various networking equipment including firewalls, and have always been a dream to get a certification in Security and moving to a Security position within the ISP industry, I just could never afford the course.. damn ;)

I doubt this can be counted as a entry as i'm from the UK (/cheer) – and used to work in Docklands, London.. but goodluck to those guys above (and in future, below) this post as it's a fantastic course to be enrolled on! – it also seems they are currently giving away 'hackedhalted' tickets!
